Calendars provide the ideal opportunity to highlight your company, its products and services and the image you want to portray for a full 12 months. Getting it right provides a cost effective way of advertising your company or product(s) for a whole year.

  • The choice of paper and board mix

Think about the papers and boards you will use for each month. Over the years, a range of papers and boards have been developed which are ideal for calendars and mixing and matching these can have a huge impact on how your calendar will look and feel. Mixing the weights of the paper between front sheet and inside leaves will provide a perfect contrast. Mixing paper finishes – gloss, silk, uncoated – depending on the colour reproduction requested for full colour images. If you are planning to post your communication, then you need to keep in mind weight and dimensions of the envelope, as size, thickness and weight will impact on the cost of postage.

  • The printing choice

Usually, calendars are printed with traditional litho-offset presses, enabling incorporating a varnish on the front and/or inside pages, foil blocking or embossing which could make a big difference to the way people perceive your company. If the content and messages are important to you, then it is well worth the additional cost of incorporating one or more of these finishes into your calendar. If you only want a small quantity and/or personalise each calendar with the name of your customer, digital print is the answer and, because so many papers and boards have been developed in recent years for this purpose, the standards of quality achieved can be extremely high. However, it is always safer to check if the paper(s) you are proposing to use is certified for the digital machines.

  • The budget

Cost should also be factored in, to help you decide if you are producing a premium, designer or mass market calendar and you can then plan its content, print and finish to suit your company, the product and your budget.

  • The delivery

If you are planning to post your calendar, then you need to keep in mind weight and dimensions of the envelope, as size, thickness and weight will impact on the cost of postage.
